How to Get an SVID Value from the Tool
- Start the SECS Tester
- Double-Click on “Set Up Communications to Tool” to open the Communications Setup Dialog
- The default tool configuration will be shown. You can change the tool name so that this configuration will be saved as a new tool setup.
- Enter the HSMS Port (or SECS I Port, a port number < 255)
- Enter the Device ID
- Enter the new tool name
- Save the configuration by pressing the Save button, then the close button
- Select the new tool configuration from the combo box. You should see the tool configuration printed out in the text field on the right.
- Connect to the tool
- Press “Connect To Tool” button to send an S1F13 to the tool.
- If the communications was successful you will see a response from the tool.
- Go online-remote with the tool
- Be sure the tool is ready to go online with this host and is allowing remote communications.
- Press “Request ONLINE” button to send an S1F17 to the tool.
- If the online request was successful you will see an S1F18 response with a reply other than “1” (which means it cannot go online).
- Once the tool is ONLINE-REMOTE you can get a list of SVIDs and request the current value of any of them.
- Double-Click “Check SVID Values” to launch the SVID Report dialog
- Click on the “Get List of SVIDs” button to send an S1F11 to the tool
- If the tool has SVIDs, these VIDs will show up in the SVID List combo box, alphabetically by SVID name
- Select an SVID and press the “Get Current Value” to send an S1F3 to the tool
- The current value will be displayed below the “Get Current Value” button
